    From the Pixar shorts, I had an Idea of what I wanted to do for my 2 minute animatic and had a chance to share it with the class. Introducing, Shrouded! (Working title don't mind it-) During class, my classmates brainstormed a few ideas that got my brain juices flowing but since my story was still skin and bones, I went back and drafted a few more storylines. In the end, I narrowed it down to 2 story Ideas:

   ⇢ Storylines

1. Growing restless in his rural home, Blank decided to venture into the city only for it to be struck by a power outage. It's a race against the clock for Blank to reach home or for it to be swallowed up into the darkness
2. Blank looses his human after a trip to the market and has to be reunited before the sun goes down.

       When I had my consultation with Mr Kannan, he liked the second one better due to its more simpler storyline.

    Although after this, I was stumped. I had no idea how to go through with the story itself. So I decided to revamp a whole new story as a whole.

Logline:

A Robot suddenly wakes up with a low battery and has to find a charger that meets his specifications, his owner or even a new one.

Synopsis:

4R35 (pronounced Ares) suddenly wakes up in a scrapyard with a warning about his battery blaring on his screen. Armed with determination, nuts and bolts it sets out to find a plug point that fits his charger. He finds his owner only to find that he’s been replaced by a better, newer robot and slowly steps back and accepts it. As his light dwindles down, a shadow emerges from the ground and takes him in.

Theme:

Slice of Life, Hurt/Comfort

Character Description:

AR35 is one of the older models, a small rounded robot, he’s curious about the world around and has a heart full of gold (or in this case wires and motherboards)

He’s a robot with a mismatch of a muted pale blue and a darker blue plate  with rusted edges after years of neglect in the scrapyard. His eyes are big with a yellowed inner light shining through. He walks on 2 legs and squeaks with every movement.

He mainly speaks through a sound wave that stretches all throughout his monitor.

World Description:

It's year 3XXX and everything has been automated with robots and they keep updating by the month with new styles, new modifications and new models. The city’s almost as colorful as it is lifeless.

Since everything is moving so quickly, thankfully there are a few people who specialize in certain models or certain eras of technology.

    When I showed this to Mr Kannan next consultation, he mentioned how intricate this is and how it would be a really hard story to be made a)timed under 2 minutes and b)at a short notice. After looking at it for a while I agreed, but there was still that hurdle to get over with Shrouded.

    During that week, I was mulling it over until I sat down and watched Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away. I was inspired by the shadow people
