DESCRIPTION:
After time exploring media and learning about information design, you will now develop an infographic that presents a series of different processes as visuals rather than text.

REQUIREMENT:
Your main intention is to analyse the “delivery mechanism’s” that affect the outcomes of your infographics.
Though content is important, however the aim of this presentation is too look at what makes an infographic presentation work or does not work. This includes content but only as one of the many components of an infographic:

PART 1: Infographic poster (20%)
INSTRUCTION:
1. Choose 1 infographic poster reference from Internet (Please consult before proceed)
2. Redesign the poster into A4 size. Sketch the idea and process
3. Redesign and simplify the poster based on visual hierarchy & typography
4. Simplify the poster's design based on color, shape & pattern
5. Attach your final poster on E-Portfolio with explanation and reflective writing

For this project, I decided to make a poster based on how stars are made. Here is the information I have gathered:
  1. Clouds of gas and dust are disturbed by the gravity of a nearby phenomena.
  2. The disturbance  causes clumps to form and draw gas inwards.
  3. The collapsing clump begins to rotate and flatten into a disc of gas and dust.
  4. The disc rotates faster and faster pulling more material inwards, creating a hot, dense core called a protostar.
  5. When the protostar becomes hot enough hydrogen atoms begins to fuse, producing helium and energy.
  6. After millions of years,  a bipolar flow erupts from the protostar and blasts away remaining gas and dust.

I then started gathering inspiration from Pinterest citing similar space oriented infographic posters like rocket ships and planets.

Inspiration #1

Inspiration #2

From these existing infographics, I started to sketch out my infographic design.
Layout Sketches

I decided to go with #3 because of the movement of the star formations that guides the viewers eyes, as well as create an interesting visual, leaves space for minor animations.
Vector Sketches

I then start digitizing my visuals in adobe illustrator. I did try to use another illustrator app (Medibang) but I decided to not go through with it because a. I wanted it to be artistically cohesive and b. It was more convenient to move create/edit the vectors in adobe illustrator. Without further ado, here are the vectors that I made:

Vector (Step 1)

Vector (Step 2)

Vector (Step 3)

Vector (Step 4)

Vector (Step 5)

Vector (Step 6)

With that sorted, I started copy and pasting the vectors into another file in Adobe Illustrator and planned out the movement of the layout and the text placements. I did have a bit of trouble rearranging everything so that everything fits and makes the direction clear. In addition to this, I wanted to make sure that there weren't any confusing text that would make the layout cluttered but all in all I think I did pretty well. The text that I decided to go with is Rockwell (Bold Italic, Normal)

Text Placements

Planned Text Layout w/ text

After I placed the text in this layout however, it was too cluttered and looked off. Although I liked the flowy-ness of the whole layout it was too complicated. So I created 2 more layouts.

Revised Layouts

I quite liked this revamp a lot more so I did some last minute adjustments and got the layers ready for animation. Here is how the final Infographic poster looks like:
