GCD60504 Information Design
INSTRUCTION:
Based on FLIP group topic research, produce a basic video animation.

DESCRIPTION:
Using a processed design framework, you will now produce an infographic report to present the given information to a ‘target audience’ with the purpose of:

1. Creating awareness (such as Global Warming, Recycle, etc.)

2. Explaining a process (such as "how to" video)

3. Defining a concept (such as "What is Fast Fashion", "What is Color Wheel", etc.)

Any time based media and software using photography, vector imagery.

Design Considerations:
● Organization Principles – LATCH and Content Organization
● Aesthetic Principles – Animation principles
● Cognitive Principles – Principles of visualization

Output Expectation:
The presentation must be deliberated on, consider each assessment rubric of sorts to your final outcome:
● Show causality
● Multivariate graphics and visuals
● Integrate word number and images
● Content count
● Within eyesight
● Use multiple charts
● Do not de-quantify

REQUIREMENT:
Video resolution: 1920px x 1080px HD (min 1.5 mins max 3 mins)

SUBMISSION:
1. A ± 3 minute animated infographic uploaded into YouTube (unlisted)

2. Digital compilation into your Google Drive Folder

3. Online posts in your E-portfolio as your reflective studies(Please attach the E-Portfolio link here for submission.)
________________________________________________________

I was put in a group to create an infographic animation alongside Tao, Nabil, Riyaan, Aidia, Aidina and Kieran. Since we were given the option to create a topic from scratch or to choose an existing topic, our group chose the latter. In a meeting, we chose to recreate Science ABC II's What Makes a Planet Habitable? After this, we brainstormed inspirations and since it was a more science-based topic, we chose kurzegatz's videos as a key reference to our videos.

I was in-charge of the illustration part of the video making group. Since, Kurzegatz's videos featured a simple-shaped mascot, I drew up some sketches that would follow the more bubbly whilst giving off a space feel.

Since our target audience consists of science enthusiasts, students and teachers, I went for a rounder character profile for a more comforting personality. Although my sketches weren't chosen to be the mascot of our video, the planet mascot was planned to be used so I made a few digitization based on that.

But alas, these were too complicated to move so it too was scrapped. So I moved to illustrating Venus and Mars more realistically.

I was also in charge of the vocal dubbing for the video. I didn't really have any vocal recording software that I was familiar with so I researched and used Audacity as my recording software. I did fluctuate my voice to sound more pop-y and enthusiastic and i think it worked out!.

    Reflection

This project provided me with an exciting challenge and technical creativity. It was a valuable learning experience that enhanced my understanding of both story telling and the concept of this project. My experience with this module was challenging and eye opening. It challenged me to think outside the box and find inspiration on information designs. My role for this project was compiling research,  information for the presentations, voice dubbing for the characters, designing the characters of mars and Venus, and animating. Doing this module as a group of six was challenging as it had its ups and downs but it was overall a great learning experience. Due to my topic being about planets, the research I have done has given me more knowledge on stars, planets, and the universe. I have learned the implications on how stars can play an important part into producing a planet. In addition to this, I familiarised myself more with illustration, planning and recording the vocals for a video.
