Prologue

    Born in Hoboken, New Jersey, on December 12, 1915, Frank Sinatra rose to fame singing big band numbers. In the '40s and '50s, he had a dazzling array of hit songs and albums and went on to appear in dozens of films, winning a supporting actor Oscar for From Here to Eternity. He left behind a massive catalogue of work that includes iconic tunes like "Love and Marriage," "Strangers in the Night," "My Way" and "New York, New York." He died on May 14, 1998 in Los Angeles, California. 

Project Brief
    You are to choose one song from the list below, appreciate the song, hear it through and understand the lyrics. You are then required to sketch initial ideas , figure out  storyline, illustrate and compose and animate a ‘moment’ base of your understanding from the chosen song. This moment will be the album cover. Illustrated typography must be included. Foreground mid ground and background must be considered and illustrated.

《Progress》

    I first started with the planning stage. I had a few ideas in mind for 4 songs (Fly me to the moon, The way you look tonight, Girl from Ipanema & New York, New York) since I knew these songs the most. I sketched my ideas on Ibis Paint to see the draft layouts:

    I shortlisted to New York, New York and Fly Me to the Moon. I kind of made up my mind when it comes to the art style which was Retro! In the end I chose Fly Me to the Moon as my main song for the album.

    Did I want to put physics in my design? Yeah, I did , I planned to add the calculation for the MOON GRAVITATIONAL FORCE if I chose the one on the bottom right. As much as I loved that design I decided with both the bottom and the top of the left as my design pieces.

For the colours, I decided to go for a more saturated and vibrant colour palette reminiscent to the space comic books found in the 1960s.
